Approaches
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
CBT is a short-term therapy. It aims to replace negative thoughts and unhelpful behaviours with more realistic thoughts and responses. It is based on an analysis of the situation and clear goals, with practical exercises between sessions. It helps overcome disabling symptoms: rituals, stress, avoidance, angry reactions.
Psychodynamic therapy
This approach is based on the idea of the unconscious. It aims to reduce symptoms and distress, strengthen a person's resources and shed light on inner conflicts. It can be brief, for a passing difficulty, or longer, to rebuild self-confidence in depth.
Psychoanalysis
Based on the unconscious and transference, it brings repressed memories back to awareness in order to understand what keeps repeating. It is long-term work, with several sessions a week, and is not suited to everyone.
In practice
Sessions last about an hour, in the office or online. We decide on the frequency together at the first appointment.
